Stages of development:
Establishment process (1975 – 1987):
On the 14th October 1975, Logistics Company Level 1 – now South Logistics Joint Stock Company SOTRANS – was established to take over the Inventory Thu Duc and Logistics – Maintenance Services under the Central Logistics Authority of Saigon Government.
Main mission of the Company at that time was warehousing, inland forwarding of essential products on route South – North, participated into national restructuring post-war, and fulfill obligations with friend countries Laos and Cambodia.
During this period, our Company was leading the industry of warehousing and inland freight forwarding, with hundreds of trucks and thousands tons of seaside and river means of transportation. For many successive years, Company had achieved better than targets assigned by the State on warehousing, freight forwarding, South-North transportation and fulfilling international obligations.
Integration process (1988 – 1991):
Centrally planned economy and bureaucratic management mechanism had posed significant difficulties for Company at this time. Goods are lack in terms of both quality and quantity. Warehouses had been left empty for a long time, both road and water inland freight forwarding activities are less effective. Therefore, Company had to liquidate all means of transportation: ship, barge, trucks, etc. to seek for more suitable business solution.
In 1990, Company established an Enterprise producing and trading in grease and lubrication with SOLUBE brand, which was a turning point of Company after the centrally planned economy was abolished.
In 1991 – seizing positive changes in market, Forwarder & Warehousing Enterprise, and then ShingViet Joint Venture were established.
Development process (1992 – 2007):
In 1992 – SOTRANS INTERNATIONAL FREIGHT FORWARDERS (now SOTRANS LOGISTICS) was officially put into operation, marked an important progress of Company history. Now SOTRANS has developed its agent network all over the world.
In 1994 – Garment Enterprise 117 was established, specialized in processing garment and textile for export. During this time, South Logistics JSC also became member of Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), Vietnam Freight Forwarding Association (VIFFAS), International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA).
In 2001, quality management system of SOTRANS was granted the Certificate ISO 9001 version 2000 by DNV – one of the most reputed quality management organizations in the world.
In 2005, SOTRANS became official member of VCCI, VIFFAS, FIATA and IATA.
Concentrating on training and developing human resources to fulfill more demanding market requirements, now SOTRANS possesses competent Doctors, Masters, hundreds of Bachelors and many of whom are participating into Master’s programs.
SOTRANS also actively participate into community activities: for example sponsoring Charity Fund for poor people, Learning Promotion Fund, program of “gratitude and commemoration”; taking care of “Heroic Vietnamese Mother”, etc. Company has been awarded 5 Labor Medals for groups, 4 Labor Medals for individuals, Emulation flags, Certificate of merit by Ministry of Commerce and other departments and authorities. On the occasion of 30th year SOTRANS (14/10/1975 – 14/10/2005), Company had the honor of receiving Labor Medal Class 1 from the State President.
Equitization period (2007 – present):
In 2007, SOTRANS transformed into a joint stock company with the new name of SOUTH LOGISTICS JOINT STOCK COMPANY and won the Vietnam Gold Star Award in 2009. In 2010, SOTRANS Focus, SOTRANS ICD and SOTRANS Petrol was established. On its 35th anniversary, SOTRANS is honored to receive the First Class Labor Medal and the Service Trade Award.
Currently, SOTRANS has a staff of over 380 staffs, operating in the fields of warehouse business, domestic and international freight forwarding, port operation… The company has a network of operations throughout the country, a system of global forwarding agents, facilities sufficient to meet customer demand with hundreds of thousands of square yards port facilities, loading and unloading container and modern cargo transport equipment. SOTRANS has become a strong domestic and international brand with an annual growth rate of 20-30%.

SOTRANS Ha Noi Branch was established.
SOTRANS Can Tho Branch was established.
Certified by DNV to have ISO 9001: 2000 standard in the field of logistics services.
SOTRANS Binh Dương Representative Office was established.
SOTRANS received Third Class Labor Medal.
SOTRANS received Second Class Labor Medal.
SOTRANS became member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
SOTRANS became a Joint Stock Company.
SOTRANS obtained 2009 Vietnam Gold Star award.
