OPENING NEW QUAY AT SOWATCO LONG BINH PORT

Southern Waterborne Transport Corporation – SOWATCO – a member company of SOTRANS Group – celebrated achieving new milestone in their developing when the quay no.1 which is capable of receiving 5000 tons ships were brought into use on March 26th, 2022. This represents a Sowatco’s strategic investment in the Sowatco Long Binh port’s infrastructure. The ceremony was attended by the Board of Directors and all employees working at this port.

Sowatco Long Binh Port at Nguyen Xien, Long Binh Ward, Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City is in a prime location in the northeast of Saigon with a convenient traffic position both by road and waterway, directly connecting the Ho Chi Minh City with My Phuoc – Tan Van highway and Hanoi Highway and with major provinces such as Dong Nai, Binh Duong… – where industrial zones in the South are available and strongly developed.

On this occasion, CEO of Sowatco – Mr. Dang Vu Thanh said that the completion of this Quay No.1 project helped enhance the Sowatco Long Binh port’s status – the most modern ICD in HCM City, improving Sowatco’s position and competitiveness and reducing overload pressure on the existing infrastructure system.

Mr. Marco Thanh also acknowledged and highly appreciated the Sowatco team’s solidarity, efforts and striving to complete the tasks assigned by the General Meeting of Shareholders and the Board of Directors, especially in the context of many difficulties due to COVID-19 pandemic.

With Sowatco’s ambition to reach capacity of 1,000,000 Teus, the introduction of Quay No. 1 is very timely, helping to strengthen the stability of service quality when the new quay will allow the site to handle the increasing volume of barge freight visiting the port; in addition, increasing the operating efficiency of two 301 TUEs – 5000 tons ships – Sowatco Master and Sowatco Pioneer, which have just been exploited in early 2022, as well as Sowatco’s the barge operation team.

Sowatco Long Binh Port is invested with large scale, modern technology, advanced management level and ability to integrate many kinds of logistics services. It can be said that Sowatco Long Binh ICD has great potential in the strategy of developing and perfecting the ecosystem of the logistics and port service supply chain not only for Sowatco but also for SOTRANS Group.
